OPG submitted an early application to the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) requesting renewal and consolidation of the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station (NGS) Power Reactor Operating Licence (PROL) and the Pickering Waste Management Facility (PWMF) Waste Facility Operating Licence (WFOL) for a 10-year term from Jan. 1, 2027 to Dec. 31, 2036. This application includes plans to refurbish Units 5 to 8 to support continued operations for 30-plus years and progress the decommissioning of Units 1 to 4.
